The Daughter of Cups card from The Wild Unknown Tarot by Kim Krans. A young white swan floats gracefully in water. Her shadow in the water is reflected in rainbow shading. A single chalice type cup is at the top of the card.

Channeling the Tarot: Daughter of Cups

One way I get to know the court cards more deeply is to sit with a card and channel a conversation with the figure on it. Here was my conversation with the Daughter of Cups from the Wild Unknown Tarot by Kim Krans

“I hold the kind of gifts that are held back by the current world. Gifts undervalued: a sense for beauty, slow creation, things made by hand, fiber arts, how to choose the juiciest peach. I am so sweet I could be crushed by the weight of the world. But I won’t change or harden. I will keep my softness.”

She is very feminine with a sense of queerness about her. Something sapphic. She is open hearted and so sweet that I realized I was fearful for her. Fearful that the world might harm her. But she is defiant in her sweetness. She says, “Someday I will be different,” and I see her growing into the Queen of Cups, gaining wisdom and strength. “But for now I revel in who I am. I value my sweetness. They can’t take it from me.”

Key Words: Peace in softness, slow creation, juicy sapphic feelings, defiant sweetness, living in the moment
