The Mother of Pentacles card from the Wild Unknown Tarot by Kim Krans. A mother deer lays with her fawn curled up, sleeping, by her side. A single pentacle hangs above her.

Channeling the Tarot: Mother of Pentacles

One way I get to know the court cards more deeply is to sit with a card and channel a conversation with the figure on it. Here was my conversation with the Mother of Pentacles from the Wild Unknown Tarot by Kim Krans

She says I can come talk with her but I need to be quiet. I can’t wake up her baby. She is a cancer moon. She says to me, “You have mother of pentacles energy in you too.” She shows me bringing my son food, trying to make home cozy for him. Then she shows me a huge force rising up. It is her, fueled by so much Earth energy. She is fierce and protective. She says, “You are protective of your child too.” I agree.

She tells me that this kind of mothering is a partnership. The child must be willing to let you mother, willing to receive the care and energy the mother pours out. I ask if Mother Earth loves us humans as fiercely as she loves her baby. She says, “Some. But they must do their part to be in relation to her.” As I leave her she remains alert and watching for danger so her baby can rest.

Key Words: Comfort, protection, nourishment, Mothers, fierce love, Earth energy, reciprocal relationships
